P.F. Chang’s Asian Table, Leicester Square

WHAT? Locally-sourced, expertly-made Chinese food right in the heart of theatreland, with a cool back story to boot. P.F. Chang‘s decor borrows from the history of the site itself – a former jazz club, where The Beatles met The Rolling Stones and gave them that little-known song, ‘I Want To Be Your Man’. Tingles.

WHY GO? One to keep in your back pocket for when the family are visiting and you need a quick (but tasty!) bite – it’s less than a minute’s walk from Leicester Square station.

The menu holds something for everyone – from grilled salmon and sushi for the health-conscious, to classic dishes like honey chicken and Kung Pao for those who already know what they like.

Veggies can enjoy wok-seared tempura cauliflower, wasabi mash, chilli aubergine and Sichuan green beans (for a start) while carnivores pick from an embarrassment of riches – Mongolian beef, Chinese BBQ pork ribs, Asian marinated rib eye and more.

We especially loved the Tiger Rolls, filled with Yellowfin tuna, hamachi, salmon, cucumber, kaiware sprouts, enoki, avocado, truffle paté, kabayaki, and wasabi aioli – amazing on a hot summer’s day, devoured in the sunshine on some outdoor seating. Bliss.

ANYTHING ELSE? Renowned cocktail consultants Fluid Movement create speciality mixes in an actual cocktail lab, including the delicate Five Spice Highball (Five Spice Bourbon, apple shrub and soda). Yum.
