REVIEW: Asia De Cuba Premium Bottomless Brunch, Covent Garden

WHAT? Brunch is big business at Asia De Cuba, Covent Garden’s super stylish Chinese/Cuban fusion restaurant. You can sip on unlimited (and varied!) booze to your heart’s content, then share your starters family-style (think black bean hummus with malanga & plantain chips). Finally, choose your own main course from the a la carte menu – if you can find the room.

WHERE? We arrived at Covent Garden’s outpost after more than a little searching – the sleek building that houses this rather classy joint is hard to spot, if you’re unsure what you’re looking for. Found in the base of the super minimal St Martin’s Lane hotel, blue curtains hide a beautifully decorated dining area, at the end of a gleaming white, shiny lobby. The restaurant’s decor is an intoxicating mix of traditional and spanking new– a bright and bold maze of modern artwork, mismatched photo frames, colourful wall displays and stylish furniture.

HOW MUCH? We sampled the (incredibly good value) Premium Bottomless Brunch (£48pp), which includes unlimited mojitos, mimosas, bellinis or bespoke Bloody Marys, a selection of starters for the table, a main per person, unlimited Mexican doughnuts doused in caramel or Thai chili chocolate and finally, a Bloody Mary bar. Here you can indulge in a wide selection of infused Absolut vodkas, signature hot sauces, house-pickled vegetables, salts & spices to season your hangover saviour to your liking.

Now, for the food. We opted for the delicious ‘Breakfast In The Fields’, comprising two eggs as you like, grilled halloumi cheese, avocado, roasted tomato, mushrooms and grilled asparagus – but there are far more exotic choices to be ploughed through, including a breakfast tortilla with spicy black beans, chorizo, eggs, baked crispy with coriander and tomato and a smoked salmon and potato waffle.

INSIDE TRACK: For £38pp, you can enjoy the same, minus the doughnuts and use of the bar – still an excellent deal for a special occasion and we’ll be back very soon to take advantage of it.
