REVIEW: Well Street Pizza, Hackney
WHAT? Negronis and espresso martinis served up with fresh, stone-baked pizza in a typically cool Hackney setting.
WHERE? Opposite Fashionbite favourite Well Street Kitchen and a stone’s throw from the infinitely Instagrammable Palm Vaults sits Well Street Pizza, specialising in soft, doughy pizzas blasted in a custom-built oven.
There’s a handful of pasta dishes, too – we hear the meatballs are exceptional, and we loved the sound of the classic Seddannini Alla Puttanesca dotted with anchovies and capers.
Our visit saw us try the tomato-based Collina (made especially for us without cheese for a lactose intolerant guest); a spicy meat feast of Tuscan sausage, n’duja, pepperoni and salumi.
Next, the Crudo E Rucola (ours with extra anchovies and spinach) comprising Prosciutto, Fior di Latte mozzarella, tomato, rocket and parmesan. Perfect on a freezing cold, snowy Thursday night. To finish us off (and boy, did it almost) we shared a Nutella-smothered pizza base dotted with banana and a dollop of vanilla ice cream.
ANYTHING ELSE? You can hire the downstairs area for private parties, a beautiful space full of fun neon signage perfect for a laid back pizza party. Oh, and they’re on Deliveroo and Uber Eats!
