Christmas Booze Guide: Where To Find The Best Gifts

Joy to the world, Boozemas is here. Yes, the month where it’s totally acceptable to spike your morning coffee on a Thursday and get on the eggnogs at lunchtime, it’s December.

We’re always on the hunt for presents of the alcoholic variety (if only to gift ourselves), so here are all the best boozy presents on the market this year – treat yo’self and let’s get this party started…

1. Spirit & Liqueur Crackers, £39.95

Forget shitty jokes and decks of tiny cards, these crackers boast a 3cl dram of a different delicious spirit or liqueur – enough to get anyone through awkward Brexit debates around the dinner table. Each cracker has a different dram inside, so everyone can try something different.


2. Le Grand Cros, La Maîtresse, £20.95

BYOB doesn’t have to mean a hastily picked Malbec from Sainsbury’s – order this traditional method sparkling wine hailing from Provence (which is still very rare).  A peach rosé with salmon reflections, enjoy a nose of red fruits (raspberry, redcurran and ripe cherries), with a subtle touch of cinnamon.

3. Old Boys 21 Years Old Tawny Dessert Wine, £22.00


An ideal gift for anyone whose idea of Christmas is a platter of excellent cheeses by a crackling fire. This Australian fortified wine was made to be cracked open during dessert and into late evening, matured in small and large format oak casks for a subtle hint of vanilla.

7. The King’s A Sticky End Sauvignon Blanc 2015, £16.99

New Zealand might not have a reputation for dessert wines, but this delightful pudding wine could change the game. Poached peach and apricot kernel fruit notes combine with the classic varietal aromas of nectarine and wild fennel whilst Noble Rot contributes elements of candied citrus peel. Pass the cheese, please.

8. Prosecco DOC Extra Dry “Sior Sandro” from V8+ Vineyards, £9.99

Couldn’t finish this list without mention of a Prosecco, could we? Amid news that the sparkling wine is proven to be good for your health, there’s simply no reason not to indulge. A straw-coloured bubbly that recalls the scent of apple and pear, it’s the perfect bottle to pop in a Christmas hamper.

10. Reserve des Tuguets 2014, £6

At just £6, this intensely warming, claret-style wine is incredible value for money – a brilliant solution for Secret Santa dilemmas. Bring a couple along to a dinner party and you’ll find yourself rather popular, hints of liquorice and leather rounding off a sumptuous meal quite nicely.
