REVIEW: Fatburger, Camden
WHAT: Burgers, burgers, burgers. Oh, and chicken. And insane milkshakes. And the crispiest onion rings this side of the pond. Coming in single, double or triple patties, these burgers aren’t messing about – hailing from the US, we expected no less.
Best for an evil hangover (though the mind will boggle at the huge menu), think brilliantly messy carbs, thick milkshakes and refill upon refill of sugary drinks. There are a few options for the health-conscious (you can order a lettuce wrap burger and there are a couple of salad options), but leave those people at home – this place is for pigging out.
WHY GO? If the giant Reese’s Peanut Butter and/or Oreo milkshakes aren’t enough of a temptation (at a reasonable £4.50), the chilli cheese fries and boxes of boneless chicken warrant a visit alone. We love the Cajun Dry Rub and Coconut Jerk sauces, but there are 12 flavours to choose from. Everything’s made fresh, too – this is a fast food joint where you might actually have to wait five minutes – and it’s worth every second.
HOW MUCH: Single patty beef, chicken and veggie burgers start at £6 (with no extras). Fat, skinny or curly fries are all £2 on top, and Taster boxes of (six) boneless wings in a choice of 12 (!) sauces are just £5.50.
You can go all the way up to a large sharing plater of Buffalo wings or boneless wings for a whopping £86 – now THAT’s a working lunch we want to go to. Start wafting one of their takeaway menus under your boss’ nose, immediately.
