REVIEW: Cereal Killer Cafe, Camden

REVIEW: Cereal Killer Cafe, Camden

If you’re not into gimmicks, look away now – a trip to Cereal Killer Cafe is like diving head first into a Buzzfeed article decrying the lost youth of 90s kids everywhere, Blockbuster video in one hand, spoonful of rainbow cereal in the other.

A huge second site opening in the heart of Camden market after runaway success at its Brick Lane outpost, Cereal Killer Cafe hits peak nostalgia, a welcome getaway from grey, adult life. Over 120 cereal boxes line the walls, bright posters, cereal toys and trinkets taking you back to yesteryear.

To create the perfect bowl of cereal you can choose from 30 different varieties of milk and 20 different toppings – and if you fancy breakfast in bed, they’ll accommodate that too.

We tried the newest cocktail on the menu, a ‘Sticky Monkey’: Toffee Crisp cereal with chopped banana, whipped cream, crushed digestive, toffee sauce and banana milk. The stuff of Saturday morning dreams back in 1999.

Sure, the rest of the day is rendered meaningless as you fend off the sugar slump, and the roster of cheesy music won’t leave your (aching) brain for hours, but the generation ever hungry for the next trip down memory lane will find their appetite sated.
