Review: Tootoomoo, Crouch End

Review: Tootoomoo, Crouch End

A happy mixture of takeaway and eat-in is often hard to come by, but Tootoomoo, a friendly Pan-Asian affair with a flagship branch in urban village Crouch End, manages to remain inviting whilst super-convenient.

Pan Asian Tootoomoo review

Enjoying a spanking new redesign complete with a jungle-like wall of green foliage, stylish low-hanging lamps (mind your head!) and bright, colourful modern seating, it’s tempting to sample the plentiful menu of old favourites in the comforts of the new setting – but with a steadfast takeaway following, Tootoomoo continues to deliver top-quality produce direct to your sofa, too.

Taking the very best and most-loved dishes from each country (spanning Thailand, Malaysia, China, Vietnam, Indonesia and Japan) the menu boasts Edamame beans, King prawns, a variety of Japanese sushi and sashimi, Vietnamese-style steamed fish and moreish Malaysian spring rolls – and that’s just for starters.

Mains include crowd-pleasers like Red and Green curry, stir-fry Ramen, aromatic duck and beef rendang, but those seeking adventure should look to the likes of Kani Kara Maki – a mix of soft shell crab, cucumber, avocado, tobiko crumbs and spicy mayo, or Shaoxing Crispy Chicken, which is crusted with Japanese crackers, herbs, chilli oil & Shaoxing vinaigrette.

Great for a date (check out the surprisingly plentiful cocktail and spirit menu – we loved the passionfruit martini with vodka) it’s totally family-friendly, too – the dessert menu has tons to offer restless kids and sweet-toothed adults. Don’t miss the  frozen yoghurts, topped with anything from M&Ms to Oreos to biscuit crumbs.

For a quick bite on the hoof, or a fuss-free Friday night meal at home, we highly recommend Tootoomoo for quick, reliable service with a smile.
