TRAVEL: A Week In Tuscany
I’ve just returned from a wonderful week in Tuscany, staying in the mountains about an hour’s drive from Pisa and Florence.
Beautiful weather, stunning food and drink – you couldn’t ask for much more from a holiday. We enjoyed relaxing days on the beach in Viareggio, visiting one of the beach clubs which fronted the coastline, interspersed with day trips to nearby towns which included the picturesque Lucca and Pietrasanta.
Pietrasanta is a phenomenal place. Boutiques and restaurants packed with the fashionable Milanese set on their holidays fill the town and it features outdoor pop-up galleries and sculpture exhibitions dotted all around. If you’re into arts, culture and fashion, this is the place to visit. With sun down, we enjoyed Aperol Spritz in the main square and watched the world go by.
Our villa was located in a rustic Italian village called Casoli, tucked high up in the Tuscan mountainside with magnificent views across the region, but there are plenty of great hotels in the area too.
