New York Fashion Week: The 5 Shows Everyone’s Talking About
Mercedes Benz or New York Fashion Week is closing its shutters for another season and amidst the backdrop of snowy climes, the column inches have clung to stories around the famous ‘mini-me’s’ attending – in the form of North West and Harper Beckham.
I have to admit, I’ve been obsessed with articles on the Beckham family, looking utterly gorgeous and so adorable on the FROW at Victoria Beckham, whilst North West’s front row temper tantrums have caused more than a snigger amongst the fashion crowd, except stony-faced American Vogue Editor Anna Wintour of course.
But coming back to what it’s all really about, the clothing, who shone on the New York catwalks this season? I’ve picked out the 5 shows everyone’s talking about below, watch the videos and check them out for yourselves…
VICTORIA BECKHAM
Her ascendency into the fashion elite is most definitely complete, as Victoria Beckham’s eponymous Autumn/Winter ’15 collection was her most outstanding to date and I absolutely loved it, particularly the beautiful chunky knits. One of Net-a-porter’s best selling brands, the former Spice Girl knows how to make clothes that sell and she does it well.
J. CREW
The store we’re all just a little bit obsessed with, since it launched in the UK a year ago, its Autumn/Winter ’15 Fashion Week presentation showcased menswear and womenswear in a preppy luxe collection that the cool kids will most definitely be wearing come fall.
DONNA KARAN
Black was the name of the game at Donna Karan, against the sultry New York skyline which lit the models as they strutted down the runway, it was a sleek, wearable collection and an instant hit amongst the fashion crowd.
DKNY
Opening with the question ‘What is New York?,’ DKNY took over-sized to a whole new level with statement outerwear and a young, sporty aesthetic.
CAROLINA HERRERA
Supermodel Karlie Kloss opened the show at Carolina Herrera, with a beautiful and fresh collection that contained more than a few Oscar winning dresses, worthy of the red carpet.
