Sampling the summer menu at Prezzo
If you’re looking for that pre-theatre pit stop, the Prezzo on St. Martin’s Lane is a great location for grabbing a bite to eat with friends.
I headed there with the boyfriend, before catching a show in the West End, and we were invited to sample the new summer menu which featured a delicious selection of Italian foods and wine.
For starters, we kicked off with Parma ham, Panne Con Copolla, a garlic bread pizza with caramelised balsamic onions/mozzarella and Mozzarella in Carozza, which was cooked mozzarella in breadcrumbs with a pomodoro sauce. The tomato sauce was delicious and really fresh, all washed down with a bottle of Italian red and sparkling San Pellegrino.
For mains, I went for two pasta options in one dish. I like the fact you could choose two types and the portions are also really generous, so you could easily share this dish with a girlfriend. I went for Penne al Pollo Zafferano, which comes with seasoned chicken, red chilli and baby spinach, alongside Fusilli alla Rustica, which was chicken with pancetta and roasted peppers. The boyfriend went for Calabrese, which is chicken breast served with calabrese sausage strips, baby spinach and cherry tomatoes.
By now, we were pretty stuffed, but just about had enough room to share a gelato/sorbet, which was a nice palette cleanser.
For your chain Italians, this is definitely a step-up from the likes of ASK or Pizza Express in my view, more care is paid to the presentation, dishes are served on wooden boards with a generous sprinkling of herbs and the sauces taste light and fresh. If you’re time-poor, you’ll be served swiftly and out the door within the hour too.
