AUTUMN DETOX: Radiance Juice Cleanse

If you’re feeling a bit over-indulged and want to give your system a kick-start before the all-important party season begins, a juice cleanse is a great way to do it. I’m a big fan of juicing, particularly when I’m feeling a bit sluggish and tired, it’s also a great way to lose a few pounds. Your clothes suddenly seem a lot loser after a few days cleansing.

I’ve been having some trouble with my skin recently too with spots, dry patches and redness. A mixture of long hours, stress, commuting and general London life has been causing it to flair up. So, I was really looking forward to trying out the three-day Beauty Boost from Radiance Cleanse.

Delivered in a handy cooler carry box, the Beauty Boost cleanse has 5 juices per day and has been designed with the input of dermatologists and facialists, so the ingredients are chosen to help “nourish your skin from within”.

The juices included Super Green, Deep Roots, Cashew Milk, Vibrant Veg and Vital Green.

THE CLEANSE

The first day was the toughest, I enjoyed my breakfast, mid-morning and lunch juice but by the time it came to the afternoon I was climbing the walls with hunger. I tweeted this to the guys at Radiance Cleanse and they very kindly emailed me straight away and suggested I have a handful of almond nuts, some berries, a pear/apple or herbal tea and it did actually pass. They were also on hand through-out the cleanse if I had any questions or struggled again.

I woke-up on Day 2 surprisingly chipper, I thought I’d have a terrible caffeine-withdrawal headache but I didn’t actually feel too bad. So far, so good. I’d also changed my route into work, walking to a train stop 15 minutes from my house (rather than right by it), then getting off a few stops earlier and walking another 15 minutes to central Soho. Both ways, it gave me an hour’s brisk walk a day and the morning walk really helped me to wake-up, without the need for bucket loads of coffee – particularly in the cold weather!

I struggled again with the afternoon dip, but had some berry/almond snacks at the ready and just rode through it like the previous day. Just one day to go now.

Day 3 I woke up with a definite spring in my step, I felt healthier in body and mind and a combination of the juices and daily walking had done wonders for my skin. My skin looked fresh, dewy and clearer than it had done in weeks.

TIP: I kept a 1.5 litre Evian bottle on my desk and filled it up with water first thing, when I got into work, then again after lunch to drink during the afternoon. It’s amazing how much more you drink when it’s on your desk right in front of you. It’s also a great natural pick-me-up in the afternoon.
