J Crew Opens On Regent Street: FIRST LOOK INSIDE
I’ve just come back from a look around the much-hyped new J Crew store on Regent Street. This is the first time the premium US brand has planted its feet on British soil and to say the fashion set have been excited is somewhat of an understatement.
The store had an opening party last night, attended by the likes of Donna Air and James Middleton (pictured below), and opened to select guests to shop today. It opens to the public fully tomorrow.
Walking around the two-storey store, the collection is absolutely stunning- I have a list as long as my arm of things I want! Their stunning array of pencil skirts (the perfect fit and length for work), gorgeous cashmere knitwear and beautiful statement outwear feels spot on for the UK market.
The shop has an accessories boutique upstairs, bursting full of the most gorgeous shoes and bags, with many merchandised standing on books of art, photography and architecture.
If you’re not familiar with J Crew, the brand sits at the premium to top end of the high street, positioned alongside the likes of Reiss or Whistles. There has been some talk of prices being too high and that buying in the UK is more expensive than the US, so this may change as the retailer settles over here. But the quality, design and feel of the clothing certainly makes it worth its premium price tag. Pencil skirts are about £130, jumpers about £180 and coats up to £400.
J Crew has continued its collaboration with department store Liberty for Autumn/Winter, featuring its iconic floral print on a range of shirts.
The understated, cool all-American style is a big hit with bloggers and fashion editors alike. Check out J Crew’s Tumblr page for some great articles, inspiration and how to style it with the latest collection.
