Crepes & Cocktails At Shutterbug

Crepes & Cocktails At Shutterbug

Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker. And over at Shutterbug, you can have both…

Crepes and cocktails… could there be a better combination? After a trip to Shutterbug, a cosy cafe cum bar tucked away in the heart of Shoreditch, we really don’t think so. Sweet or savoury, there’s a crepe there to suit every mood, as we found out on a rainy Friday night after a seriously heavy week.  Craving  a stiff drink and something sugary, we ordered two cocktails and two crepes, after spending far more time than is strictly necessary (sorry, guys) poring over the menu.

Red velvet cake is our favourite, so naturally the red velvet crepe with mascarpone and strawberries won out, followed by the divine salted caramel offering. The thin, crispy pancakes doused in an array of delectable toppings had us hooked immediately, washed down with martinis and mojitos. As the evening more on, the chilled cafe took on the vibe of a downbeat bar as more and more Shoreditch locals began to arrive, betraying Shutterbug’s status as one of the cool new places to frequent in an area saturated with ‘trendy’ hangouts.

Venture into the smoking area and you’ll find heaters and plentiful seating, somewhat sad in the current weather conditions (when will this end?!) but sure to be buzzing come ‘summer’. Open until midnight on Thursdays and through the weekend, this isn’t your ordinary cafe. Get drunk, stay well into the night, then come back in the morning for a coffee and bacon, egg, cheese and tomato breakfast crepe to blow the cobwebs away.
