Easter’s just around the corner and the freezing weather is becoming slightly more bearable while the FashionBite team anticipate four precious days off, laden with as many lie ins, chocolate treats and family visits as Christmas, without the pressure of gifts and a rather large bird in the oven.

So what’s a London dweller to do with four delicious days off? We recommend you set one aside to enjoy Easter Afternoon Tea at Gallery Mess, Chelsea.

A downright pleasant experience, the tea incorporates all the elements of the British tradition with a selection of delicate finger sandwiches, Prosecco, teas and scones, plus a few Easter themed extras that were made for your Instagram lens.

The chefs over at Rhubarb catering have come up with an utterly delightful selection of desserts to adorn the top tier, creating passion fruit macaroons, chocolate eggs bearing cute Easter messages, pound cake and melt-in-your-mouth shortbread biscuits that’ll have you cooing over your plate as if it were a newborn baby.

The restaurant’s design is something to behold in itself – think exposed brickwork, brilliantly incongruous artwork and twinkling fairy lights. A thoroughly modern take on an age-old tradition, the food is fresh, the service impeccable. And the location? A stone’s throw from the Saatchi Gallery, Partridges Food Market (where foodies go to heaven) and Vivienne Westwood’s infamous shop, World’s End. Chelsea’s your oyster!

Happy Easter!

The Easter Afternoon Tea runs until April 7, costing £35 for two
