Top 5 London Fashion Week Bars
We can’t quite believe it’s here, but tomorrow sees the return of London Fashion Week. In between shows, lunches, meetings and parties, the FashionBite team are always in search of bars and and cocktail lounges that can provide an all-important moment of relaxation amongst the madness. Here’s our pick of the hottest hangouts:
The Lobby Bar, One Aldwych Hotel, WC2B 4BZ
For Fashion Week fans, this is the place to be seen. A stone’s throw from those hallowed white tents, the hotel’s cavernous lobby hosts parties like no other as fashion enthusiasts mingle and unwind under the spell of a beyond magical cocktail menu. Expect famous faces, a party atmosphere and a seriously good time.
CellarDoor, WC2E 7DN
If you can’t quite bear to leave One Aldwych, look for CellarDoor right outside. Tucked away outside the Lyceum in Covent Garden, the venue is entered via purple lit stairs in middle of the pavement. This intimate cabaret bar is housed in a former gents lavatory which was once reputedly the haunt of Wilde, Gielgud, Orton and Crisp. Cutting edge cabaret, burlesque and drag awaits you.
32 Great Queen Street, WC2B 5AA
This homely bar is right opposite the Freemasons, a short trot from Somerset House – perfect for a short break between shows. The restaurant’s laid back, British fare and quirky cocktails at the bar are sure to put a smile on your face after a long day in uncomfortable heels. Book in advance though – this place is guaranteed to be busy.
Upstairs At Rules, WC2E 7LB
Not sure what you want yet? Head to the impressively camp Upstairs At Rules, filled with boutique booze and bespoke buddies to keep you company. This old school gentleman’s cocktail bar has all the classics, including super skilled bartenders who are happy to whip up whatever you fancy – if it’s not on the menu, that’s not an issue.
Sketch: The Parlour, W1
Mayfair’s Sketch (home to the funkiest egg-pod loos in town – trust us) often plays host to fashion shows and guest DJ sets from It girls like Bip Ling, Coco Sumner and Sunday Girl. At 6pm the small parlour upstairs becomes a snazzy cocktail bar, with Louis XV chairs that feels more like an intimate hip house party. Get there before 9pm, when this hedonistic haven becomes strictly members only.
