London Fashion Week AW13 (3 Weeks To Go!)
It’s that time of year again when all eyes return to London for a Fashion Week that sparks creativity, uniqueness and always a sprinkle of surprise.
Having always felt like the naughty teenager in the past to our more refined, grown-up cousins in New York, Paris and Milan, the last couple of seasons us Brits have really come out on our own…and have made the rest of the world take note of our utter brilliance (about time!) From Friday 15th to Tuesday 19th February, Somerset House will once again become the landmark of the fashionista. As we all make our way to see the eccentric crowds that gather outside the BFC tent, on the tricky cobbled canvas, alongside the genius momentum which happens inside on the catwalk…we can’t wait.
Meadham Kirchhoff, Burberry Prosurm, Christopher Kane, Jonathan Saunders, Mulberry and Holly Fulton are all back for another season, using the backdrop of the London landscape as their set. However, there are also a few changes this time round, mainly over at Vauxhall Fashion Scout, now renamed as Fashion Scout, taking place at the Freemasons Hall.
For me Fashion Scout pulls the hardest punches in showcasing the British vibe to its fullest potential. Having provided a platform for the likes of Pam Hogg, Eudon Choi and Peter Pilotto, it is something that must continue to showcase the up and coming, not just from London and Paris, but China, Scandanavia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
Fashion Scout Director Martyn Roberts told FashionBite: “This is an exciting leap forward for Fashion Scout. The UK produces some of the most creative fashion talent in the world and Fashion Scout will always show the best of them, but there is also a generation of fantastic new talent coming through from other countries. Whilst Fashion Scout’s aim stays the same – to show the best creative fashion talents – our vision is now global.”
