Gym Class Heroes: How To Keep One Resolution This Year!
Next week we’ll see the return of what has been officially named the most depressing week of the year, with ‘Blue Monday’ starting things off nicely. Scientists totted up a combination of factors contributing to this: weather, debt, time since Christmas, time since failing our New Year’s resolutions, low motivational levels and ‘the feeling of a need to take action’. I know I can tick 6/6… so, inspired by that last one, I’m doing something about it… that’s right… I’ve been to the gym. Twice!
That might not sound like much of an achievement, but it’s a start. Obviously before I hit the treadmill I had to scour the sales for some new gym outfits… and boy did I get lucky. On the lookout for clothes that actually do the job, determined to keep my New Year’s Resolution (more time in the gym), I found myself heading into stuffy, male-orientated sports shops that did absolutely nothing for me. Then a friend reminded me to pop into Pineapple…
As if you didn’t know already, Pineapple Dancewear was created by the founder of the Pineapple Dance Studios, Debbie Moore – and she knows what she’s doing! Every range is full of colour – a welcome sight after clapping eyes on a sea of grey and black online and in other sports stores.
If anything was going to get me back in the gym after a long day at work and a miserable, cold commute home, this was it (and the fact I can watch my new favourite show Mr Selfridge on the machines helps….) While the day-glo tracksuits aren’t quite my thing, I found dozens of tops, sweatpant sets, hoodies and headbands to boost my motivation. And most of them were in the sale!
I love this ‘Globe’ loose tee, a bargain at £8 down from £15:
This skipping rope is a snip at £5… I recently heard skipping can help you burn up to 500 calories an hour, so I’m willing to give it a try this month. These are perfect to get me started:
Now all I need are some Chanel dumbbells… if you’re lacking new year motivation, pop your head into a Pineapple store. 2013 might just be the year you beat Blue Monday.
