Spring/Summer ’13: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Spring/Summer ’13: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

SS13: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

3.1 Phillip Lim, Burberry, Meadham Kirchhoff, Osman & Holly Fulton

Clichéd but oh so true. With the end of the year nigh, everyone is in operation ‘gorge yourself silly’ with tissue paper hats, oversized knitted Christmas pud jumpers and novelty socks. Once the new year has been and celebrations have come to an end (and you have stopped cursing yourself for not fitting into that bodycon number on New Year’s Eve) everything can get a little limp, sad and forlorn in the midst of the January sales. But do not worry, as we have these ultimate girly delights ready to brighten up the entire proceedings of next year…

SS13: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Prada, Jonathan Saunders, Louise Gray, Moschino Cheap & Chic and Oscar de la Renta

SS13 is all about celebrating being a girly girl at heart (even if you try to disguise it by drinking pints, wearing Nike Air Max trainers and supporting Manchester City on a saturday). It is time to embrace your inner Barbie, unashamedly wear bubblegum pink and add that extra sprinkle of glitter whilst pouring yourself another glass of cherry lambrini (OK the latter will never be acceptable). All our favourite designers have gone mad for glitter, flowers, fun fur, metallic brights, holographic shine and of course, all with a dash of pink.

From kitsch bows and little bow peep at Meadham Kirchhoff (who else) to plastic and straw roses at Holly Fulton (am in love with that dress). To high shine at Burberry and disco punch at Jonathan Saunders (the bare midriff will perhaps have to wait until the turkey bloat is just a distant memory, just like the Xmas work party that you are hoping soon will be…) Flower power and luxurious draped furs at Prada, trashy PVC in ladylike fashion at Oscar de la Renta, crayon and colouring pencil cartoon creations at Osman, whilst no no sickly candy collection is complete without a pair of dungarees, contrasting beautiful over at 3.1 Phillip Lim and Moschino Cheap & Chic. And of course, Louise Gray… ‘cos every girl needs a clash of Gray in their wardrobe. (No, not that one!)

And I’ll be hoping for this beauty under the tree come Christmas morning by Fashion East designer, Ryan Lo… because no New Year’s Eve party is complete without a neon feathered ballgown!
