Lanvin AW12 Campaign Celebrates ‘Normal’ Women
Real women are in vogue it seems, as the genius mind of photographer Steven Meisel has created a series of delectable images for the upcoming Autumn/Winter Lanvin campaign with, wait for it, seemingly ‘normal’ women. Yippee!
A waiter, a milliner and an US immigrant from the ages of 18-80, are just a selection of characters sprawled over glamorous interiors and decadent backdrops to showcase the new collection. Meisel has once again created intrigue, thrill and relevance in his pictures by looking way outside the box resulting in a creation that makes you literally pour over the visuals with sheer fascination. (Fascination over real women? What does that say about the culture we live in…. now that’s a discussion for a later date!)
Designer Alber Elbaz explained, “I was interested to bring these clothes back to the street somehow, and seeing how they look on different ages, different sizes. It felt like a crazy family, and I like that.” The campaign is due to launch in September, but until then, head to Paris where apparently real women can become models on the highest of levels.
Move over Gisele, there is a new body in town!
