Look of the week – Lana Del Rey
Beauty Reporter: Marianne Gray
Lana Del Rey looked amazing when she was spotted having lunch with Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein in Paris last week.
Presumably taking inspiration from the French capital, Lana appeared to be channeling her inner Parisian and paying homage to 1960’s sex-kitten Brigitte Bardot, emulating her iconic back-combed hair, heavy feline eyes and nude lips. Lana , of course, updated her look with a few individual touches, namely her trade-mark inch-long nails and a trés feminine head-band accentuating her bigger-than-Bardot hair.
With a style she describes as ‘gangster Nancy Sinatra’, Lana is a style icon in her own right – getting the ultimate seal of approval when Mulberry named a bag after her. But if Lana’s take on 1960’s Parisian glamour is a bit too gangster for your tastes a toned down version is easy to achieve – and saves a lot of work when it comes to the back combing.
Lana creates a dramatic look by really playing up her most striking features (eyes, lips and hair) and keeping the rest simple. To COPY her look you’ll need three key tools:
1. A firm hold spray like Fat Hair’s Amplifying Hair Spray
2. A bold, black liquid eye liner like Exaggerate by Rimmel
3. Nude lip colour, I find using a light layer of my foundation to work pretty well, but for extra impact try Topshop’s Lips in Nevada
And as the French say… voila!
