Donations For The Great North Run & Breakthrough Breast Cancer!
My beautiful, wonderful Aunt, Mel Seares, is taking part in the Great North Run next weekend, to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer – which constantly researches new treatments for Breast Cancer and how to prevent it in the future.
Very sadly, Mel was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004 -with 3 young children to look after – and surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy followed. She has overcome it and is an inspiration to so many women out there.
Tragically, breast cancer is something that affects so many women and the more research we can do into preventing or curing this terrible disease the more we can do to help all those who are suffering and will suffer in the future.
Mel chose to take part in the Great North Run to raise as much money as possible for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and has set a tough challenge for herself – to complete the 13.1 mile run within 2 hours.
On her sponsorship page, she says: “I’ve never been a serious runner – more of an infrequent jogger, and the furthest I have ever run in an event is 10K. I am taking this run very seriously and really, really want to do it in 2 hours. It will push me harder than I’ve ever been pushed before, but I still have my life and my health which, tragically, many others don’t.”
Mel has raised about half her £1,000 target so far, so please if you can donate anything, however small, that would be amazing! To donate, visit: www.justgiving.com/mel-seares
Good Luck to Mel and everyone else who is taking part next weekend!
