Holiday Style Diary – FashionBite In Tuscany

FashionBite in TuscanyI’ve just returned from a week’s holiday in Tuscany, which was a lovely mix of beach relaxation (we stayed in the mountains just up from the coastal town of Viareggio for 5 nights), and then the last few days in Florence for a mini city break. But one thing is for sure…in the style stakes, Italians don’t do things by halves!

Glitzy, gorgeous and oozing sex appeal…the Italians certainly know how to dress for night time glamour. One evening we headed into the arty, upmarket town of Pietrasanta and virtually everyone was draped in dazzling cocktail dresses, tiny hot pants or sporting some other statement designer outfit – all topped off with killer heels. I saw the tell-tale red of many a Louboutin sashay past…it was a pure fashion fest!

For holidays though my style is somewhat more relaxed and I opted for a mix of loose cotton kaftans, maxi-dresses and city shorts. Gold acessories and brown leather shoes/bags work best for summer sun – black is too harsh and white can look trashy.

I love being on holiday for barely there make-up, I wore nothing during the day and just a dab of MAC powder, Max Factor’s False Lash Effect mascara and a slick of lip gloss for the evening. I also used Daly Spa Tums & Bums Silhouette Smoother, part of Tess Daly’s new beauty range, available at Marks & Spencer. The cream made my skin tingle when applied and it had a lovely cooling effect which was great after a day in the sun. Talking of which, M&S has some fab pieces for summer – perfect for holidays! I love this stripe print maxi-dress, would look great for day time with strappy flats.M&S stripe print maxi dress, FashionBite

FashionBite in TuscanyFor beachwear, I picked a stripy, nautical bikini from Next, with fluroescent side ties. I’ve been really impressed with Next’s summer ranges and they have some great holiday pieces.

I teamed the bikini with a cool cotton Kaftan dress from beachwear specialist

MyaBlueBeach. The dress has gold embroidery detailing around the neckline and hem and it worked perfectly with gold stappy Office flats for daytime.FashionBite in Tuscany

The hat was ’70’s inspired Next, sunglasses Jil Sander and a brown leather bag by Canadian handbag label Miss Mak Designs.

For dinner, I picked a floral maxi-dress from ASOS.FashionBite in Tuscany

City style consisted of shorts and t-shirts, I teamed a pair of retro Khaki green shorts with a simple white t-shirt and brown leather Office sandals. Alongside, a stripy Marc Jacobs-inspired tee and woven colour pop bag, both from Next.FashionBite in Tuscany FashionBite in Tuscany

I also discovered a fabulous fashion store in Florence…but more of that in the next post!
