GUEST POST: London Jewellery Week and Craft Central, Clerkenwell

London Jewellery Week, FashionBiteGUEST BLOGGER: Freelance journalist Amy Golding

Last week was London Jewellery Week and, to celebrate, I spent Saturday weaving between the stands of some of the UK’s best contemporary designers, shopping at events including JewelEast, at Old Spitafields Market, Treasure, at Victoria House, and the Hatton Garden Festival.

However, my top finds were at 14 Carat at Craft Central in Clerkenwell. Here, 14 emerging and established contemporary jewellery designers joined forces to exhibit the pick of their collections.

My favourites included Emma Turpin, inspired by Victorian architecture and design. She showcased her new Frame collection, which features sharp lines and sculptural shapes, incorporating semi-precious stones.

My last purchase of the day was from Poly Philippou. The up-and-coming independent designer’s current collection draws from autumnal nature, and includes delicately sculptured seed designs. The standout piece was a silver cable necklace that featured no less than 23 pendants.London Jewellery Week, FashionBite

Unfortunately, a little out of my price-range, I opted for a single acorn-cup pendant – but have plans to buy more. By September I hope to have created the perfect necklace to help me better except the returning cold autumn months (budget permitting)!
