Harvey Nichols launches London Fashion Week designer Hakaan

Hakaan, autumn winter '10

Natalia Vodianova models in Hakaan's autumn winter '10 show at London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week newcomer, Turkish-born designer Hakaan Yildirim, has catapulted on to the fashion scene following a much publicised show at LFW in February.

His thigh-skimming bandage dresses, ribbed leather trousers, slashed coats and ostrich feather skirts were all depicted in strong silouettes. A basic palette of camel, black and white- simple but brilliantly executed.

His support from fashion royalty Kate Moss and Carine Roitfeld, who sat in the front row, was cemented by supermodels Natalia Vodianova and Lara Stone modelling in his show. He also won this year’s ANDAM award, which helps international designers.

Harvey Nichols was so impresssed with his autumn/winter ’10 collection that they snapped it up exclusively. The collection has just gone on sale in store, prices range from £660 to £2500.

Hakaan is definitely one to watch, I really loved his a/w ’10 collection and can’t wait to see what his offer will be this season. His designs are very commercial and would translate well on to the high street…so keep an eye out for copycat versions!
