Last Of The Summer Wine At John Lewis Roof Fest

John Lewis Oxford Street probably isn’t the first place that springs to mind when planning a quick catch up with friends or a sexy rooftop date – but we’re here to tell you it’s *the* place to eke out the last of the long summer evenings in central London.

WHY? Roof Fest is what they’ve named their large roof terrace, home to an open-air cinema, bar and some tasty food, too. Just take the escalator to Floor 5 of the department store (checking yourself in the mirrors, trying out a new eyeshadow and spritzing you fave perfume as you go; dreamy).

Out on the fake grass there’s a handful of super cute private booths and an outdoor seating area (available to pre-book with a £60 minimum spend on food), plus some indoor tables where you can work your way through BBQ Dreamz‘z latest Filipino-inspired menu, at Bong Bong’s Manila Kanteen.

WHAT? We sampled crispy fragrant pork belly, with pickled papaya salad and a Filipino lechon dipping sauce, alongside Adobo glazed chicken wings and a rather spicy prawn curry. Drinks are by Background Bars – kiss stressful days goodbye with an Espresso Martini or Chilli Margarita. And then a bottle of super delicious orange wine.

INFO: One of the biggest roof gardens in the city (and a pretty well-kept secret, so not *too* busy) we recommend you book ahead. Or, drop in on a Wednesday where they have a first-come, first-served policy on the private booths – which were made for the ‘gram, bedecked in gorgeous decor. Your grid deserves that last foray into flora and fauna before it’s pumpkin spiced lattes, pumpkin spiced lattes, and, well, pumpkin spiced lattes. Don’t you think?

Monday – Saturday: 12 – 10pm (Last entry 9pm).

Sunday: 12 – 9pm (Last entry 8pm)
