REVIEW: Inamo, Camden

WHAT? A quality pan Asian restaurant that does away with paper menus, offering a selection of sushi, Korean wings, bento boxes and cocktails right there on the interactive tables. Check out a photo of every dish, then order with a click of the mouse before busying yourself with a selection of games.

WHY GO? The novelty of the high-tech ordering system is an obvious pull, the games ideal for keeping tween, iPad-obsessed family members entertained. Traditionalists will likely be left craving candlelit corners and face-to-face conversation (imagine!) but this is an experience, and a fun one at that.

BEST DISH: Whatever your stance on high-tech dining, the food here is excellent. The spicy steamed edamame beans have a real kick, doused in chilli and garlic sauce – a great start at £5.95.

Locally sourced chicken wings glazed in a tangy Korean BBQ sauce are a must (£8.95),and it’s worth ordering the delicately steamed chicken gyoza in a soy mirin, chilli oil, wasabi & yuzu dressing (£7.95).

If you like your selection so much you feel like shouting from the rooftops, you’re in luck – you can digitally rate your meal right there on the tabletop (in between changing the mood lighting and drawing pictures).

WHERE? They’ve got branches in Soho and Covent Garden plus a brand new branch in Camden, near Mornington Crescent.

HOW MUCH? Crispy soft shell crab rolled with velvety avocado and chives is £10.95, and five slices of fresh line-caught tuna lightly glazed with wasabi, yuzu & soy sauce comes to £9.95. Get the Yum Buns, stuffed with beef brisket, duck, and pork served with hoisin sauces (£8.95).

At the Soho branch there’s a ‘four courses for £20’ option – guests choose one soup, one small plate, one large plate and one dessert (time restrictions apply). Wash it all down with the frostiest beer you’ve ever sampled – a frozen foam keeping your Kirin Ichiban chilled while you try to stop Instagramming your food.
