Lanvin Autumn/Winter 2012
Black eye-liner is set to be huge for autumn/winter. Hardly news, you may say, black eye-liner is always huge. Glamorous, versatile and – for many of us – essential, a good black eyeliner is a makeup bag staple and has been for decades. Prepare to look at your liner in a whole new light for the new season as eyeliner gets interesting.
The feline flick has been big news for a few years now, adopted by the likes of Alexa Chung to add a bit of instant cool to the simplest of looks. Lanvin took it a step further in their Autumn Winter 2012 show painting thick black wings across the entire lid. A great evening look and nod to Autumn’s gothic trend, but not for the faint-hearted. Use a smudge proof gel liner like this one from Bobbi Brown.

Erdem Autumn/Winter 2012
If you prefer to keep wings small, but still want an A/W update, try Erdem’s minimalist approach which creates drama by leaving eyes naked and painting a small flick at the edge of the eyelid. This clean look requires a precise eyeliner, we love Stylo by Nars which works like a felt-tip for your face.

Mary Katrantzou Autumn/Winter 2012
If you’re feeling especially creative take inspiration from Mary Katrantzou’s abstract approach to eyeliner and decorate eyelids with striking black lines and geometric shapes. The beauty of this look is that you can’t really go wrong as long as lines look deliberate. Use a fine tip liquid eyeliner like Rimmel’s Glam’Eyes Professional Liquid Liner.
