Olympic Fashion Week Has Arrived…Let The Battle Commence!

Olympics Fashion Week Has Arrived! FashionBite

Forget the sport, the London Olympics is all about the fashion darling…never has lycra been so widely sought after!

Gliding through the River Thames first comes the sailing team from Italy in their finest Prada getups, swarmed in national royal blue, it may not be the vision of Prada that we know and love, but with the name branded over the sail, suddenly water sports has become the place to be seen.

But let’s not forget Giorgio Armani, who will be dressing the rest of the Italian hopefuls, which will also feature in the EA7 Emporio Armani ‘The Sense of Being’ advertising campaign, the catwalk of Milan next!

Controversy seems to follow Americans round like women to the Christian Grey flame and the Olympics appears to be no different. With Ralph Lauren dressing the athletes, a political row has been ignited after learning the kits have in fact been ‘Made in China’. However, preppy is what the label does best, never mind where the last stitch was sewn. Navy blazers, gold buttons and white college trousers, this uniform represents the USA down to its Sandy-inspired, white ankle socks.

Classic, refined and oh so suave – this can only mean one thing, Hermès for the French Equestrian team. Starting out in the Saddlery business over 200 years, way before even Jane Birkin and Grace Kelly were living, breathing human beings and not just luxurious leather handbags. Parisian chic, even on a horse, well you couldn’t imagine them dressing the wrestling team now, could you?!

Having designed over 590 different types of clothing for the GB team, surely a touch of stylish spin can create something truly amazing on the track, in the pool and on that podium! “It is one of the most beautiful flags in the world and it was important for me to stay true to that iconic design,” said the designer. Well here is hoping that it will make us truly proud to be British.

But whatever happens, all eyes will be fixed firmly on those uniforms. And here we thought Fashion Week was not for another two months yet! Let (fashion) battle commence…
