NEW FOR SPRING: UGG Australia’s Glam ‘40’s Inspired Looks

UGG Australia SS12, FashionBiteGUEST BLOGGER: Amy Golding

UGG Australia – my faithful friend on an icy London morning – is sexing itself up for spring. A few weeks ago I attended its SS12 launch party at the recently opened Knightsbridge store. And alongside sheepskin boots the brand also showcased killer heels, crafted leather bags and silk scarves.
UGG Australia SS12, FashionBiteUGG said its new collection is based on 1940’s California, an era celebrated for a glamorous young Hollywood and beach colonies. It features pop colours, festive prints and modern silhouettes, inspired by a time when men and women dressed for dinner and danced on yachts just beyond the Malibu coastline.
UGG Australia SS12, FashionBiteThis description may be a surprise for some; including a fashion-forward director at the design agency I work for who shudders when I arrive in the studio in my cosy footwear on wintery days.
However, the expanded range shows how versatile the brand can be. A favourite for me is its Isla Collection, which features bright and strappy espadrille platforms and shoulder bags.UGG Australia SS12, FashionBiteUGG Australia SS12, FashionBite
As well as new lines, UGG Australia has also revamped classic designs with summery neon and pastel colouring, and simple button detailing, like its new beautifully fun blueberry calf-length sheepskin boots.
Such style transitions made me wonder when we¹ll see the brand launch its first swimwear collection. Although an unusual move, perhaps it could be a perfect fit for a brand made famous by its Australian heritage and beach babe Pamela Anderson, when she paraded the coastlines in her UGGs and a high-cut bathing suit.
