SELFRIDGES – H&M to open first UK concession and PICS of new ‘Washed Up’ exhibition

H&M gisele_bundchen_for_hmH&M is to open its first UK concession in luxury department store Selfridges at the end of August.

The concession will be located on the ground floor of Selfridges Oxford Street store in London and will have a bespoke, shop-in-shop design… It will sell a selection of handpicked items from H&M’s latest womenswear collections and accessories, according to Retail Week.

H&M’s country manager for the UK and Ireland Magnus Olsson told Retail Week: “We are very excited to be opening our first H&M concession store in the world-renowned Selfridges in London. H&M wants to be in the best business locations worldwide and Selfridges is a great addition to our London store portfolio – a real shopping destination.

He added: “Customers can look forward to the ultimate H&M fashion experience at Selfridges later this summer – we look forward to surprising them.”

Last year, Selfridges opened the world’s largest shoe department, see FashionBite’s post ‘Selfridges Opens World’s Biggest Shoe Department.’ And the iconic department store continues to stay ten steps ahead on the game with new and innovative, creative collaborations and in-store promotions.

This week, Selfridge’s Oxford Street flagship is due to launch a new ocean-inspired exhibition called ‘Washed Up,’ curated by Judith Clark in support of The Ocean Project. Selfridges is transforming its concept space in the Wonder Room to illustate the potentially disasterous effects of over-fishing in the world’s oceans, through vintage and avant-garde fashion..love it!

It is showcasing 26 haute-couture and iconic sea themed pieces from designers such as Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan, Gareth Pugh and surrealist hats by Philip Treacy (worn by Lady Gaga). The exhibition runs from May 11 to June 12 (my birthday!).
