FashionBite wins Next Styling Challenge

Next Styling DayNext Styling DayNext Styling DayNext Styling DayNext Styling DayNext Styling DayNext Styling DayNext Styling DayNext Styling DayNext Styling DayNext rolled out the red carpet for fashion/style bloggers today and treated us to a day of champagne, styling and a look at their spring/summer collections and the inspiration behind them.

Next also challenged bloggers to style a look based around one key piece chosen by them. I was given a lace t-shirt top and I created an off duty festival look (see first pic). I won the challenge (along with 4 other bloggers) and we’ll get our looks shot on models and sent out to Next’s online subscribers in a few weeks time.

Bloggers pictured (image 7)  include the lovely Elizabeth from Thrills and Frills and Kristabel from I Want You To Know. I also had a great time with the gorgeous Jazmine from Jazzabelle’s Diary.

Next’s buyers and marketing director Christine also ran through the trends/stories for next season. Next will be sporting 6 key stories but is looking to add to the collections throughout the season.

Story 1: PAINTBALL

This collection consists of vibrant colours- reds/blues, block stripes on jerseywear, colour blocking and a ’70’s Miu Miu feel. A tie-front top will be a key shape, along with wide leg trousers.

Story 2: WHITE HEAT

White, white and more white. I loved this collection. Crochet edging, smocking detail, a wider ’70’s feel, lace trims and a real attention to detail. Next will be merchandising the white collection together in store, the first time it’s put one colour all in one block, so it should look visually v.strong.

Story 3: LAUREL CANYON

Fringing, crochet, this is a more relaxed smart/casual collection. Blue/orange/ginger are key colours. Soft denim, wide leg trousers, long boyfriend blazers and cape shapes. I loved the burnt/rusty colours in this collection, I think they’ll make great transitional colours.

Story 4: LOCKER ROOM

This story took inspiration from off duty models at Paris Fashion Week, low-key sweatpants embellished with sequins, stripy blazers and lace.

Story 5: ’70’S ST TROPEZ

Buyers went to India for fabrics, the collection is a formal story but with a more relaxed feel. Pleated skirts, shorts, wide leg trousers, silk blouses and fab attention to detail on fabrics.

Story 6: HOT SPOT GARDEN PARTY

Neon colours, simply brights, prints. Lace, sleeveless shirts and jumpsuits.
